Ubisoft leans towards mobile gaming
According to the story published by Ryan Duff from Pocketgamer.biz,
During the most recent Ubisoft announcement event, Ubisoft Forward, Ubisoft’s co-founder, chairman, and CEO, Yves Guillemot, announced that the company invests in the mobile games market. One of the most flag franchises owned by Ubisoft revealed its mobile versions.
The Division, Rainbow Six Siege, and new Assassins Creed games will be available for mobile devices.
The showcase also revealed the production of three new mobile games coming exclusively to Netflix.
Adobe acquires Figma for $20 billion, eliminating one of its main competitors in the field of digital design.
According to the story published by Ingrid Lunden from Techcrunch.com,
We’re the witnesses of one of the biggest takeovers in the digital industry. The acquisition of Figma by Adobe for $20 billion, eliminates one of its greatest competitors in the field of digital design.
Early this morning, the WSJ and Bloomberg both reported that Adobe was close to announcing the acquisition of Figma. Adobe announced officially to coincide with its quarterly revenue.
Figma’s product strengths include design and prototyping for people and teams, carried out in a very streamlined and contemporary, cloud-based environment.
To date, it has gathered almost 4 million users. Adobe has been expanding and acquiring many companies in the broader field of digital creation, which has allowed it to expand beyond the more generic and expansive realm of design and into marketing and other fields related to design in the longer creation chain.
However, design is at the core of Adobe, and the company has created some of the most recognizable products in fields including imaging (such as Photoshop), fonts, illustration, video, 3D, and more.
The goal at this point is to seamlessly connect the software, effectively making Figma the native platform that connects them all. Of course, Adobe previously planned something similar with AdobeXD. What will happen to that after this deal is complete is yet to be revealed.
“Adobe’s greatness has been rooted in our ability to create new categories and deliver cutting-edge technologies through organic innovation and inorganic acquisitions,” said Shantanu Narayen, chairman and CEO, Adobe, “The combination of Adobe and Figma is transformational and will accelerate our vision for collaborative creativity.”
Nintendo shares increase by 5% as Splatoon 3 sets a new sales record in Japan.
According to the story published by Arjun Kharpal from CNBC.com,
after the Japanese gaming behemoth announced its latest title (Splatoon 3) had broken a sales record on the Japanese market, Nintendo shares increased 5% a few days after the game reveal.
Splatoon 3 set a domestic record for any Nintendo Switch software in its first three days of sales, according to the game publisher, with sales in Japan exceeding 3.45 million units.
One of Nintendo’s most anticipated games this year, the game where players are shooting gallons of paint, debuted on September 9 2022.
The game’s success eased concerns about a slowdown in the industry following a boom caused by the pandemic, which saw more people playing video games at home. Investors also worry about how a possible recession may affect the video game industry. The second quarter was disappointing for gaming giants Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony.
But as the holiday shopping season approaches, the popularity of titles like Splatoon helps maintain the momentum for Nintendo’s flagship Switch device, which has been around for more than five years.
Roblox will roll out in-game adverts. More exciting game industry news to come in 2023!
According to the story published by Jeffrey Rousseau from GameIndustry.biz,
In-game advertisements will be introduced to Roblox the following year, as stated at this year’s Roblox Developers Conference.
The adverts will be native to the platform, 3D, and clearly identifiable.
Roblox will enable brands and game developers to design never-before-seen ad experiences, including portals that can smoothly move users back and forth across game experiences.
According to the sources, this will open up new revenue-generating potential for game developers and enable game studios to engage more effectively with their game communities.
There are other video gaming platforms besides Roblox that will use in-game adverts.
Business Insider stated earlier this year that Microsoft is considering including advertisements in free-to-play games.
Additionally, it has been said that Sony intends to add adverts to its PlayStation’s free-to-play games.
